Oh my, got a ton of rain and more flooding than we’ve ever seen!
It poured rain, our tents got wet, so we came up with a new plan… and now we kinda question our sanity!
We had a large basil harvest so I tested out a quick way to dry it. While I canned tomatoes Brooke finished setting up her aquarium and now it’s finally time to show you!
Cleaning rabbit cages, harvesting tomatoes, gathering eggs, taking the goat for a walk, finishing up the 4H record book… it’s just another day on the homestead.
String Bean, Sugar Pea, Phoebe… so how did we come up with those names?
Whoa…. we had to do a double take! Thought we had a new tom running around here but no… it was just Chance.
Miley has been planning to take our Holland Lop, Bumbleston, to the state fair but now she may not get to. Why? Well, you’ll just have to watch…
So I’ve been pondering… is all of this really worth it?
It’s time to pull out the cucumber plants in the green house so we can plant more. While doing it I discovered a nasty squash bug infestation. We had our alfalfa swathed and baled, so now the hard work of getting them put away begins.
Is raising turkeys worth it for us? Well, to find out the answer you’ll just have to watch…
I’m finally getting my life back in sync after the fair so I thought I’d give you an update of the homestead and after this, hopefully get back to normal vlogging schedule.
There’s lots of work to be done in the garden! We need to get potatoes dug so we can get beans planted. Then there’s the cantaloupe that should have been harvested several days ago and the watermelon that also needs to be picked. With all the laughter going on, it seems to be more fun than work!
Oh the places you will go and the things you will learn, see and do at the fair!
Getting the turkey and chicken we processed packaged and ready for the freezer.
Processing day is never an easy day but this time was a little harder.
So several years ago I found this.. what seemed like a cute idea on Pinterest for my garden but… let’s just say it looked better on Pinterest. Plus we’re giving you a sneak peak of Dylan’s latest project!
Miley takes over the vlog and takes you along while she does her chores.
Miley’s been interested in experimenting with different recipes to make with dandelions. We’ve been searching for recipes and came across one for dandelion bread so we decided to try it.
Finally the day has come to move the pigs out to their pen…. and I do believe they approve.
Ever since we put the green house up I’ve been wanting to hang out inside it and listen to it rain. Well, I finally got to do that!
We’re introducing the tomatoes to the green house. I want to get a shade cover soon because it gets way too hot for them to be out there full time yet. We are also planting flowers and putting our pepper plants into bigger cups.
Come along as we take a trip out of town to the orthodontist!
We’re having another get together with the family with lots of food, games and relaxation! There’s even a bonus tutorial on how to do a facial mask complete with cucumbers… can’t forget the cucumbers for the eyes, ya know! 😉
We had a fun New Year’s celebration with family. There was games, food, laughter and silliness…. a great way to end one year and start out a new one.
