The weather has been so lovely lately. We’ve had mild temperatures, no wind and sunshine… it’s the perfect winter weather. With the exception of the ice storm around Thanksgiving when we were out of electricity for a day, and a few other short cold spells, this winter has been perfect so far… knocking on wood that it stays that way!
Since it’s been so nice we decided we’d better take advantage of it and do some much needed cleaning of the chicken coops. Cleaning coops isn’t one of the most fun jobs, and then combine it with cold weather; it’s one of those things that doesn’t get done very often in the winter.
While we were at it, we deiced to add a couple more nesting boxes to the one coop that all the chickens want to lay in. Maybe it will help prevent the congestion of them all trying to squeeze in one box at the same time.
While we had the tractor out, we also turned the compost pile…
It looks like it’s composted nicely and will be great to add to the garden in a few months.
Of course these nice days have been all work and no play. One day was so nice that we ventured out for a little walk to the creek.
