Life has been busy for us lately, so we had to take some time off from making videos. Now that things have settled don a bit, we’re trying to get back into the swing of things. With the rainy spring we had, the garden got off to a slow start, but overtime it managed to pull through and we have a happy garden update!
It’s a rainy day on the homestead! It’s one of those days that once we get our chores done, there’s nothing else better to do than take a nap, make hamburger soup and play games.
Miley loves shopping for the pets, so we had a special Christmas just for them….
I had an appointment and afterward did some shopping, so I was gone for most of the afternoon. When I got home, the kids surprised me…
We never sift our flour, but today we tried it and the cookies turned out much better. So we want to know, do you soft flour?
The cucumbers and tomato I planted in pots a while back aren’t doing the greatest. In fact, I was thinking about throwing them out until they started blooming.
The time has come and it’s never easy.
Today we’re making Christmas cookies! Dylan has always made the snicker doodles every year, but now he’s decided that it’s time to pass off that tradition to Miley. In this video he teaches her the fine art of snicker doodle making….
There’s lots of work to be done in the garden! We need to get potatoes dug so we can get beans planted. Then there’s the cantaloupe that should have been harvested several days ago and the watermelon that also needs to be picked. With all the laughter going on, it seems to be more fun than work!
Oh the places you will go and the things you will learn, see and do at the fair!
We were surprised when we found our hen with chicks under her, then we were even more surprised when we found another hen hatching more chicks. Now that these chicks are growing, they surprised us once again…
The best memories are made when the family gets together.
The mosquitoes have been horrible here lately, in fact it seems like they’re worse than usual. We don’t like using chemical sprays so we’re looking for the best natural bug spray that actually works. If you have a great recipe that you don’t mind sharing, we’d really appreciate it.
Games, a Splatoon cake, a treasure hunt, swimming, fireworks and a campout… Happy 11th Birthday, Miley!
We’ve been having bad luck trying to hatch out turkeys this year. Well, that luck just got even worse because one of our turkey hens died. We’re not sure if our eggs will hatch but we’re not giving up yet. On a brighter note, we picked mulberries and strawberries and decided to make a pie. Didn’t have enough of one kind of berry so we made a little bit of this and a little bit of that berry pie!
We decided to try camping out again… only this time we decided to add a few things to make it a little more comfortable. The weather was perfect and it was a calm, relaxing evening… well, at least until the bugs came out.
We decided to have a little fun and pitch a tent and rough it for a night. Wind, possibility of storms, hard ground, coldness…. I wonder if we will tough it out or go to the house?
The turkeys got up from there nest and I couldn’t decide if I should take the eggs and put them in the incubator or leave them. I hope I didn’t make the wrong decision!
It’s the last day of our 3 day celebration and we’re playing more games… I think we’re finally getting our fill of games, at least for a little while. Our turkeys have been acting like bullies and if they don’t quit they just might end up in the freezer.
