We had a request for an animal update, so Miley is taking you with her as she does the chores so you can see how they are doing. There’s cuteness, silliness, frustration, and even a surprise! I’d tell ya all about it…but it’s more interesting if you watch….

Rain, Rain, Rain and More Rain! Week 42 2018
When it rains it pours… quite literally and figuratively! It was one of THOSE days on the homestead!
It’s a cold rainy day.. you know, the kind that’s best just to sleep away, and that’s just what I did! The kids grabbed the camera and had a little fun while I slept…
It’s a cold rainy day on the homestead! We’re trying to get as many tomatoes harvested and in the house before the rain starts. Since it ended up raining most of the day we decided soup sounded good for supper… so I just threw some random ingredients, with as many homegrown things as I could find, into a pot. Good or bad? Well, you’ll have to watch..
Oh no, we have to skip Friday!
Oh dear, I got days mixed up and it affected the whole week. So here it is Friday and we’re doing all the stuff we planned on doing Thursday. I guess we’ll have to skip Friday so that we get back on track.
Turkeys, where did you go?
We got the beans picked and snapped, now we just need to find time to can them.
A lot of times I don’t follow recipes and will just randomly make something according to what we have on hand. Sometimes it turns out great, other times not. Tonight’s supper was one of those experiments.
At chore time we found the turkeys missing so we had to find them and put them back in the coop. Always something around here….
Wow… that fence IS hot!
I picked tomatoes while Michael worked on expanding the pasture fence. Brooke decided to buy the car so the kids were busy helping her clean and shine it up. Dylan wondered exactly how hot the electric fence was so he tested it out for himself.
Run Away Turkey and Two Trips To Town
Ever have one of those days that goes on and on and actually over laps into the next day? This was one of those days for us. Started out around midnight finishing up night chores because of a run away turkey. Once the sun came up, it was the usual chores and then we made a trip to town to check out a car for Brooke. Then it was back home to grab a trailer to help Dylan move in a desk. By the time we got home from that, it was midnight.
We Switched Things Up a Bit
One day over the weekend the kids were gone and it was just my husband and I home. So we had us a little date scooping poop, cleaning things up and doing some much needed fixing up to a few things. Now that everything is all switched up we have a whole new morning chore routine.
We also picked beans and the kids have been keeping busy with a few projects they came up with on their own. Who needs toys when you have sticks, paint, string and a bog box to play with?
Improved Milk Room & Spider Web Cotton Candy
Hubby had the day off so we decided to start working on getting the milk room enclosed to keep the chickens out. While out there, the kids got creative with some old spider webs and went to scare Grandma with them.
Chores, Canning and A BAD Dream
Just another day on the homestead getting chores done, tomatoes canned and a story of a bad dream I had. It was a super busy but fun day… never a dull moment…
Getting Record Book Done & We Smell A Skunk!
4H record books were due and since we like to procrastinate as long as possible, we had to spend a good portion of the day getting Miley’s done. Then of course, a skunk comes around at the time we need to go out to do evening chores… good thing the kids were willing to go out with me!
