Don’t Get This Chicken For the Homestead, Picking Mulberries and More! Week 27 2018

When life gets busy, its important to slow down and take a moment to pause and look around… you’ll be surprised by all the little things you’ve overlooked.

The kids take over the vlog today and take you along while they pick mulberries to make a pie. One problem… someone ate all the mulberries so we couldn’t make a pie!

We tried a new breed of chicken this year which is the Polish. They’re cute, lovable and fun to watch but we don’t recommend them to someone who wants to let their chickens free range. Here’s why…

Enigma Puzzle Challenge, Testing Chickens, Our Turkey Is Laying Again and More! Week 26 2018

The kids challenged each other to see who could solve the Hanayama Enigma puzzle first with the loser having to sit in a tub of ice water. Brooke started out far ahead… Dylan caught up and managed to pull off a win. He happily fixes up a tub of ice water just for her…

In order to show chickens at the fair, they have to be tested for Pullorum Typhoid and Avian Flu. Normally they’re tested the day we take them to the fair but this year we had to get it done earlier so that meant we had to take them on a little road trip.

Our turkey hen is laying again so we decided we should move her back over with our tom. Someone figured out the Enigma Hanayama puzzle… so that means someone has to sit in a tub of ice water.

The kids challenged themselves to see who would be the first to solve the Enigma Hanayama cast puzzle, which is one of the most difficult ones. The challenge continues…

Garden Tour, MORE Chicks Hatch, A Surprise In the Garden and More! Week 25 2018

We have an awesome surprise in the garden… it’s something Miley has been waiting for for a long time.

More chicks have hatched… where do we keep them? Who should do the chores… should they be considered rabbit chores or chicken chores?

One hen and her chicks… another broody hen hatching out chicks… a stormy night… where should we put all these chicks?

Finally got my garden in and mulched so I thought I’d give you a tour of it while it’s still looking good.
