Oh, I’m so excited! The seeds I ordered a week ago arrived in the mail the other day. The green house finally got in the 6 packs of tomatoes and green peppers that I’ve been waiting for, so I picked them up. I’ve got the majority of the other seeds I’m wanting to plant rounded up, so now all that’s left to do is plant. Once that’s done, I’ll officially have my garden in. Sounds simple, right? Well…not exactly, because there’s still plenty of back aching planting to be done. But at least it’s all gathered up so there’s no more excuses to not get it planted.
There’s also another reason I’m excited. The other day when I logged onto my Youtube channel, I discovered that I now have over 300 subscribers! Before that, when I logged on here after being gone a while, I discovered there had been quite a few new visitors here!
I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you so very much!!
To celebrate, I’m having a giveaway!
I’ve decided to give away some Miniature White Cucumber seeds, which are one of my favorite things to grow in the garden. I planted these seeds last year and had very good luck with them. They grew and matured fast, produced well, tasted amazing and made awesome fermented and refrigerated pickles. Another reason I chose to give this particular variety away is because it would work great in containers or small spaces as well as in a larger garden. I figured that way they should work great for everyone, no matter how much space you have to work with.
Before I get to the details of the giveaway, I have a little story to tell you about growing them last year. I planted quite a few, so I had a nice sized little patch. They grew and produced very well. We ate a bunch, made pickles… and ate more. Then fair time came around and we got busy so I just quit picking them and let them grow. They grew ginormous, and so did the weeds! Once the fair was over, it was time to put in a fall crop of beans. I wanted to plant them in the spot where the cucumbers were growing, so I took the DR Trimmer and whacked the weeds down. As I did that, I also ran into all those ginormous cucumbers and whacked them into pieces which went flying everywhere. It was actually quite a lot of fun smashing up all those cucumbers. A week or so later, my hubby tilled up the spot and I planted the beans. When the beans came up, a bunch of cucumbers came up right along with them. In fact, they came up like weeds. I decided to just leave them and see if they would grow and produce. They did and we ended up with a nice, unexpected fall crop of cucumbers. After that, I decided these were a must have on my “Plant Again Next Year” list.
Here are the rules of the giveaway:
I have 10 small packets of seeds to give away and there will be 3 different ways for you to enter:
Each place you enter will have its own separate drawing. There will be 3 separate drawings, with 3 winners each, for a total of 9 winners. I will then throw all entries together and draw one more winner from that for a total of 10 prizes to be given away. The contest starts now and will close at 10 pm central time on Friday, May 13, 2016. Results will be posted Monday May, 16, 2016.
I want to thank each and every one of you for reading, subscribing, following me on this crazy adventure! I’ve enjoyed the comments, conversations and have learned so much from you all. I’m looking forward to more conversations and lots more learning because there’s still plenty to learn! If you enjoy following me, please share. If I can get to 500 subscribers on Youtube, 300 followers here or 900 followers on Facebook, I’ll host another giveaway and offer something a little bigger.
Calabrese Broccoli = it reseeds and volunteers. I can easily save the seed too.

Thank you! Kale is something I’ve been wanting to try growing. I bought some plants last year but they ended up turning out to be something else besides kale. We didn’t eat it because we didn’t know what it was. lol I’m going to add kale to our list and see if I can find some. Thank you for entering!

I am not sure I have a favorite to grow, too many years between gardens. I have planted this year and hope all comes up, being a nurse and working 12 hours shifts kind of make an interesting combination of weather or not stuff will grow or just weeds. Would love to grow these cukes as I love pickles!!!!!

I bet it is hard to try growing a garden and working lots of hours like that! Heck, I don’t have a job outside the house and I end up growing more weeds than I do veggies. I think these cukes would be good for you to grow because they’re so easy, low maintenance, and quick to produce. Thank you for entering!
