In my last blog post, I told you about our new Humble Little Homestead You Tube channel where we will be sharing the latest happenings and projects going on around here. As I’ve been working on that, I got to thinking about exactly what all I wanted to share on that channel. I intend on it being mostly homesteading related and plan to cover everything from gardening tips and updates to animal care and processing, plus everything in between, in addition to showing our progress on fixing up the place.
As I was making videos I realized some of our videos were starting to be more about the kids doing every day projects and having fun which kind of ventured away from my intended topic. So we’ve decided to make another You Tube channel called Humble Little Homestead for Kids!
This channel will include more of the everyday, simple, fun stuff of life. We’ll include videos on crafts, cooking, playing games, and all the good stuff of life. There will be educational videos about farm animals and lots of updates on our cute chicks and baby goats in the spring. We’ll make plenty of messes and there will be a lot of fun… it won’t be anything fancy at all, just simple living and good old fashioned fun. Even though we’ve named this channel Humble Little Homestead for Kids, we hope that every one of all ages will enjoy it. If you would like, you can check it out here. It’s still in the early stages, but there’s a lot more to come, I promise. I plan to occasionally post videos here, but if you’d like to see more of our videos, you can subscribe to our channels.
Here’s our latest video, making cracked marbles…
Christmas is just around the corner and there’s so much excitement around here! It’s especially exciting when you have a special pet to give gifts to. In fact, wrapping the presents is just as exciting as Santa coming…
We have a new kitten! We had a little mishap with Miley’s cat, Blaze, so we got Miley a new kitten that’s a better match personality wise…
Of course, I still plan on getting back into a routine of blogging regularly here. I just had to take a break for a while because I’m very technically challenged so I had to do a lot of research and learning on editing video and getting the channels set up which took a lot of time and patience.
Anyhow, one of the upcoming topics I plan to blog about is the history of our place. Last spring one of our neighbors stopped buy and gave me a copy of this old newspaper article…
It was written by my great grandfather and published in the Sawyer News in 1945. He was born in Tennessee, moved out here by horse and wagon in 1883 and claimed the land we’re currently living on. The article tells a little about what his life was like as he settled on and built his home on this land. It’s really interesting and I’m super excited to share the story.
Be sure to check back for that story and more. In the meantime, if you’re interested, check out our You Tube channels!
Exciting time ahead indeed…looking forward to your new venture.
