Last weekend we planned on getting some chickens and the turkeys processed. After running to town to get ice and a couple of big tubs to put them in, we determined it was too hot and windy to process them, so that will be next weekend’s big project. Hopefully the weather will be cooler then.
Since our apple tree was loaded…
those tubs were filled with apples instead.
There was picking…
and processing…
and more picking….
and more processing…
and we still have some left…
plus there’s lots more still on the tree. So, what did we make with all those apples? Be sure to check back soon and find out.
What is your favorite thing to make with apples?

My favorite thing to do with apples is eat them straight off the tree (after a washing)….but that’s because I can’t be bothered cooking them-)
I have an interesting story about apples. When I was 14 I worked at the junior high school I was attending. I worked after school hours. Another 14 year old also worked there. My mother drove her home because her family was so busy working their apple orchard and their farm. As a way of saying thank you, her family would give us boxes and boxes of apples. I loved them and ate them by the bushel. I noticed a wonderful thing happening during the time I was eating all those apples for weeks on end….my teen acne cleared up completely and my skin glowed! After apple season was over, and we were no longer getting all those apples, my acne sadly returned. I could have bought apples from the store but money was tight so it didn’t happen. I have always wondered what is in apples that clears up acne so well. Maybe apples should replace those dangerous acne medications teens are prescribed. At least they’d taste better-:)

Yes, eating them straight off the tree is my favorite too! I don’t even wash them, just wipe the dust off with my shirt. I love picking them in the morning as I come in from doing chores. They are really cold… so good!
That’ is a very interesting story! I would love to know why they work so well at clearing up acne. I have read that they have a lot of health benefits but never heard of them clearing up acne.
